Today, I requested my senior to provide me guidance on conducting the completeness test for sales data transfer for Company “MY”. I also spoke with the client over the phone to gain insight into their use of the sub-system and to identify the data that I would need to perform the test.
Shortly after, the client sent an email containing an Excel file with the sales data information, including invoice number, amount, date, and description. I also received the sales invoice listing, and my test involves comparing the sub-system sales data with the sales invoice listing, using the matching key, which is the invoice number.
To conduct the test, I extracted the data from both documents and imported them into IDEA, a data analytics software. I then used the join function to link the two documents, with the primary data being the sales data, and the second being the sales invoice data. After generating the report, I added it to our working report. Any primary data that had no corresponding secondary data was flagged as a variance. In this test, there were zero variances found.
