Yesterday, I worked in a hotel with my manager and conducted a kick-off meeting with Company “J”. Today, I'm entering COMPANY “M” Venture for a fieldwork assignment.
We arrived at the company site around 9 am and followed our standard protocol of going through the information request list with the person in charge and requesting any pending documents. After obtaining the necessary documents, we started preparing the audit working paper. While going through the documents, we noticed a few points that caught our attention. Firstly, we observed that the resigned staff's ID was not deleted and was being retained for an uncertain period. Secondly, the financial controller was assigned superuser access to the database. Lastly, although the company had user acceptance testing for program changes, we noticed that no signature was put on the related documents.
We then proceeded to the server room for a sighting and later presented our audit findings to the client. During the presentation, we discussed the points on which we had disagreements and reached an agreement that we would be the audit points with our director and address their concerns. We plan to conduct an exit meeting with them after the director has Reviewed the points.
Main things that have learnt:
Learn how to deal with clients if there is a disagreement on our audit finding
Comment/idea/opinion
Based on the experience, I learn that communication is important as we need to communicate our audit findings or out output to the client in a professional way, and at the same time, we need to stand strong on the audit points when we are confident enough that the point, we raised are accurate and supported with strong evidence.
