Day 67 (28 Jan 2023)

Writer: Foo Yoong HouFoo Yoong Hou

I continued my work on the Pyrm payroll test, as yesterday I found out there are a lot of variances in the report, I believed it is abnormal and the variances might due to my own mistakes. So I started to filter out all the variances and try to understand what are the causes of the variances. I noticed that a lot of variances are the employees not getting paid, their attendance is absent but they did not get any salary. I asked my colleagues what the potential causes for this type of variance happened. He told me it might be the client had omitted them from the employee listing.

I then discussed these with the auditor on these variances and he asked me to send him the report and he will use the result to further inquiry the client. The client replied that she had forgotten to provide another employee listing for their direct labor, this is the reason why there are a lot of variances on the report. After getting the listing, I started to redo the report by including the new given employee listing, varirances are then reduced.

Main things that have learned

-To learn how to identify the causes of the variances found on the payroll test
